Salute to World War II Combat Aviators

On September 17, 2005, the Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum paid tribute to combat aviators from World War II. There were 12 veteran combat aviators that were honored that afternoon. The group included a Flying Tiger, three of the men that were POWs, and one veteran that flew 71 missions.

The men were honored in front of a standing room only crowd (over 500) in the Waukesha Hangar. At the end of the ceremony, Orion Samuelson of WGN-Chicago posed questions for the veterans.

The entire ceremony was filmed and a documentary video was produced. The video can be purchased through the museum by calling 815-547-3115.

All proceeds of the event went to our Youth in Aviation Program.
