Dogs N’ Brats Lunch at the Museum – 11:30 am – 12:30 PM
Come and enjoy fresh grilled hot dogs and bratwurst with all the fixings! Donations accepted. Bring friends and family. Museum campus open for touring.

April 5
WW11 Carrier Pilots Forum
The forum will provide the audience an insight of WWII, Korean War, Viet Nam War and Iraq War carrier pilot’s experiences, insights and thoughts. The audience will also be able to ask questions of the carrier pilots. 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM $5.00 admission.

April 19-20
Classic & Chrome Car Show
This is a fund raiser event by the Classic and Chrome Car Club to raise funds to support Keith School to display premium cars at the Indoor Sports Club located on Riverside, just west of I90. The Museum is collaborating with the Car Club to include aviation as well as cars as a theme for the show.
Social evening is April 19th at the Museum. Cocktails, appetizers and silent auction. Tickets are $20 and a cash bar.

April 20
Third Annual Golf Outing
This is a fundraiser for the Museum held at Timber Pointe Golf Course. An equally important goal for the outing is for the Museum’s members and friends to have a good time, get acquainted, and share the camaraderie.

May 3
Introduction to Flight - 9:00 am - Noon
This program is held on Saturday mornings twice a year and is available to youth 10-17 years of age. The program lasts approximately 3 ½ hours and includes a tour of the Springfield Hangar to view current restoration projects, a ground school class on the “Theory of Flight”, and a hands on preflight of a general aviation aircraft. Following this each youth receives an introductory flight (weather permitting). Call the museum office to make a reservation (required).

May 30 - June 1

June 6-8
Rockford Airfest

June 14
Flag Day
- Come join us for the Second Annual Flag Day celebration. This educational event is for all ages. Learn about the history of our flag and proper etiquette from Captain Charles "Chuck" Downey, WWII Air Combat Veteran.
 
July 12
Family Fly Day 11:00 AM- 3:00 PM
This is a great day for the whole family. Kids can make their own model rocket and launch it. There will be you-control model flying planes and a Microsoft Flight Simulator. We will have Young Eagles flights for kids 8-17 yrs. old from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The museum and gift shop will be open. Lunch will be served by Marlene, and as always there will be the ever popular fire truck rides! You’ll see antique car displays, a Stearman fly by, and our parade of flight. In the afternoon we will be presenting our Scholarship awards to some deserving future aviation professionals. Come join us for a great day.

July 13
Classic Car & Motorcycle Show 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Sponsored by British Boots & Bonnets,  in conjunction with Jack Caldwell Productions. Come and see these British makes and models! Enjoy vintage aircraft fly bys and a day of beautiful automobiles. There will be good food and good friends to be shared at the museum campus.

All proceeds will go to help the Markley Family with their financial/medical needs. The family's two sons, Ken & Phil, are stricken with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with expenses totaling over $300k/year.

July 20
Wheels of Agriculture Event – Antique tractor rides, horse drawn wagon rides, Ag Planes, threshing, corn sheller and stationary baler demonstrations, kids games, music and food!

July 24-26
Meyers Fly-In
This is a fly-in event of Meyer’s airplane owners. Visitors will have an opportunity to see Meyers aircraft whose history began in the early 1930’s and talk to the pilots. The Museum will also be open to see and learn about the history of aviation.

August 17
Poplar Grove Airport Fly-In Breakfast

An annual favorite, we’ll have the fire truck making its rounds between the Poplar Grove Airport and our museum campus. Come enjoy breakfast in the Poplar Grove Airmotive maintenance hangar, provided by the Poplar Grove Lions. Then meander around the airport, see the vendors, go for an airplane ride and come visit us for a tour of the museum campus.

Same program as offered in May 3.

September 20
2008 Ho-Down Fund-Raiser
Just like it sounds, we're gonna have an Ole Fashion Ho-Down so bring your bibs, appetite and cash! We will be raising money for the 09 season including operating funds for the Youth Exploring Aviation program among others. Best of all we'll be having fun first and foremost.

September 27-28
Midway Village WW11 Days and Museum Fly-In
This is a collaborative event between Midway Village and Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum to honor those who served in WWII. At Midway Village you will be able to see a re-enactment of WWII army battles, visit vintage WWII military equipment and talk to the re-enactors. After visiting the re-enactment at Midway Village, you will be able to visit Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum; you can see first hand the L-bird airplanes who participated in the re-enactment and talk to their pilots about the veteran pilot’s experiences in WWII.

December 6
Membership Open House and Christmas Party.
There will be Christmas carols and good cheer along with a possible visit by Santa Claus for the kids.
